Professor Dr Reinhold Wolke has been Professor of Health Economics and Economics of Social Institutions at the Faculty of Social Work, Education and Nursing since 2001. He is a member of the Association for Doctoral Studies at the Universities of Applied Sciences in Baden-Württemberg. From 2024 to 2029, he holds a research professorship.

His research focuses on:

a) Developing and implementing concepts and processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of nursing and healthcare delivery – with a particular emphasis on nutrition, mobility and medication.

b) Conducting health economic evaluations in nursing and healthcare, including areas such as kinaesthetics and the German National Nursing Standards (nutrition, continence, dementia, physiological birth).

Prof Dr Astrid Elsbernd has been a Professor of Nursing Science at the Faculty of Social Work, Education and Nursing since 1999. Her current research focuses on technology in nursing, data-driven management in long-term care, and quality development processes. She also supports practice-based projects, with a particular emphasis on evaluation. In addition, she is actively involved in numerous professional committees on a voluntary basis and contributes her expertise to political decision-making processes, for example as a member of parliamentary commissions of inquiry and working groups established by state ministries.

Prof Dr Christiane Gödecke has been Professor of Nursing Science at the Faculty of Social Work, Education and Nursing since 2018. Her research focuses on nursing ethics, care ethics, out-of-hospital ventilation, technology in nursing from the user’s perspective, nursing education, and the inclusion of perspectives of those affected – such as care recipients, informal carers, and nursing professionals in various care settings.
She is a member of the German Society of Nursing Science (DGP), the German Interdisciplinary Society for Out-of-Hospital Ventilation and Intensive Care (DIGAB), and the Academy for Ethics in Medicine (AEM).

Prof Dr phil Mechthild Löwenstein has been Professor of Nursing Education at the Faculty of Social Work, Education and Nursing since 2016. Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Annette Riedel, M.Sc., has been Professor of Nursing Science at the Faculty of Social Work, Education and Nursing since 2008. Her research focuses on ethical issues and challenges in nursing practice, with a particular emphasis on how nursing professionals address ethical conflicts and the potential implications for their professional roles. Additional areas of interest include palliative care, ethical questions surrounding assisted suicide, and suicide prevention across all sectors of the healthcare system.

Since 2020, Prof. Riedel has been a member of the German Ethics Council, Deputy Chair of the Ethics Committee of the German Society of Nursing Science (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Pflegewissenschaft, DGP), and a member of the Association for Doctoral Studies at the Universities of Applied Sciences in Baden-Württemberg.
