Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thao Dang (LinkedIn) has been a professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences since 2018.  He is a member of the Institute for Intelligente Systems. His research is focused on autonomous systems, robotics and signal processing. Prior to his work in Esslingen, he worked at Daimler AG / Mercedes-Benz AG R&D on autonomous driving (e.g., the first autonomous long-distance drive of a vehicle from Mannheim to Pforzheim), decision-making and path planning, situational analysis, and system integration for self-driving vehicles.

since 03/2018: Professor for Signal Processing and Autonomous Systems at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences

Achievements 

2007: IEEE ITS Best Dissertation Award and Willy-Höfler-PhD Award of Karlsruhe University (KIT)

2008: PhD Award of the AHMT (Arbeitskreis der Hochschullehrer für Messtechnik) 

2016: Reinhard von König Award

Thao Dang has served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (since 2004) and the IEEE Intelligent Transportation System Conference (since 2005).
