International Teaching Week 27 November to 1 December 2023

Join us to exchange ideas, gain interational experience and meet colleagues!

You are also welcome to participate in only 2, 3 or 4 days of the programme.

General information

The International Teaching Week focuses mainly on teaching, networking and academic exchange. Participants have the opportunity to hold and attend lectures.

In addition, Esslingen University hosts a lively social and cultural programme. The famous Esslingen Medieval and Christmas Market will take place during the International Teaching Week. The Esslingen Medieval and Christmas Market is unique: with its more than 180 booths, attractions, medieval music and a broad cultural programme, it is one of the largest and most attractive in the region.

Erasmus+

Your participation in the International Teaching Week can be funded by your home university as Erasmus+ Mobility. If you would like to take part in the programme as part of an Erasmus Teaching Mobility (STA) programme, a valid Interinstitutional Agreement (IIA) is required. We can only accept colleagues from partner universities for an Erasmus Teaching Mobility. Your participation can also be financed under the Erasmus Training Mobility (STT) programme. You can give guest lectures, but we do not need an IIA for this form of funding.
Please contact the Erasmus coordinator of your home university to discuss these details before you apply.

LECTURES AS PART OF OUR REGULAR STUDY PROGRAMME

You have the opportunity to hold guest lectures in our  bachelor's or master's dregree programmes. Our programmes are from a broad range of fields within the areas of Business, Social Sciences, Computing, and Technology.
Please feel free to take a look at our programmes to see whether your specialist area could enhance them.

After your application, we will match you with an Esslingen professor, who will be your "academic host" during the International Teaching Week. You will coordinate the content and scope of your guest lectures with your hosting professor.

LECTURES AS PART OF THE "STUDIUM GENERALE"

Alternatively, you can offer a lecture as part the "Studium Generale". Studium Generale courses (sometimes also called contextual studies, general studies, fundamental studies or universal studies) are mostly non-compulsory, public courses at a university. The Studium Generale belongs to the long tradition of humanistic education in Germany, and today embody the mission of universities to promote comprehensive general education.  The Studium Generale is focused on promoting both interdisciplinary dialogue and networking, especially between the sciences and the humanities. The heart of the programme is a series of comprehensive talks, panel discussions, and lectures with national and international guests who join local scholars in discussing up-to-date research in their respective fields. All events are public.
