There is a student public transport ticket available at railway stations. This ticket is valid for the entire Stuttgart transit system all day, every day, including all holidays.

Statutory health insurance is obligatory in Germany. All students must have basic health insurance. This can be obtained in advance of arrival in Germany if required. Renting a room in a student residence usually costs between €250 and €350 per month and must be paid by bank debit. At the beginning of their rental contract, students have to pay a caution deposit of €400. Provided that no damage has been caused, this caution deposit will be refunded at the end of the contract.

For further miscellaneous expenses such as books and learning material, food, personal care and entertainment, it is suggested that you allow yourself approximately €300-400 per month.
