Studying in Goeppingen

Goeppingen lies between Stuttgart and Ulm at the foot of the historic Kaiserberg Hohenstaufen (seat of the royal House of Hohenstaufen). The country town with its around 56,000 inhabitants offers students an attractive town centre with the railway station just five minutes away from Campus.
Goeppingen has a compact campus with a family-like atmosphere. There is personal contact between students and academic staff; typically, lecturers leave their doors open to visitors. This dialogue enables efficient learning for students as well as leisure time activities on and off campus.

If you want to escape from the town, you can enjoy the beautiful countryside around the Hohenstaufen mountain. Nature lovers can also take advantage of the many circular walks and cycle tours.

Culture and Sights

Goeppingen offers a variety of cultural activities and sights. The Hohenstaufen mountain is a local landmark and occupies centre stage in the cultural tour known as the "Straße der Staufer" (the royal House of Hohenstaufen route).

Further sights that are worth a visit include: the Alter Kasten museum, the half-timbered Marstall building, the renaissance castle, the Stadtkirche, and Oberhofen churches, and the Spielburg rock formation.

Bars and Clubs

With its many cafés and varied concerts, among others, in the town hall, Goeppingen is becoming more and more a town for students. For example, a business development initiative in collaboration with the University’s Student Union (AStA) regularly organizes pub tours in the inner city.

The amount of student accommodation available in Goeppingen, calculated according to the number of students, is the highest in the region.

In recent years, Goeppingen’s own housing company has continuously modernised and, where possible, extended its student accommodation, which can be obtained through the Stuttgart Students Union. Recently, a “student village” with five blocks of flats has arisen in the Bodenfeld area of the town – just five minutes by bike from the campus.

The modern single rooms are distributed over flats with three, four or five bedrooms. All 158 rooms are furnished and can be rented at relatively low prices. Every flat has a kitchen, shower and WC. There are shared laundry and drying rooms as well as space for bicycles in the cellar.
