General Information

General Information

Mechanical engineering is the key engineering discipline involved in the development, design and manufacture of investment and consumer goods. It is thus one of the key technologies of our modern industrial society. The broad-based training offered by Esslingen University of Applied Sciences concentrates on the fundamentals and therefore ensures you are well prepared for this task and the challenge of life-long learning. Experienced lecturers teach in small study groups to provide you with everything you need to gain a successful foothold on the career ladder. The study programme is very practice oriented and consolidates the theoretical knowledge by means of exercises in modern labs, project work in groups and the practical semester spent working in industry.

After you have learned the engineering and natural science fundamentals of mechanical engineering in the first three semesters, you select one of two specialisations according to your personal interests: development and design or development and production

After completing the Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, you may take a continuation Master’s in Resource Efficiency in Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc.) or Design and Development in Automotive and Mechanical Engineering (M.Eng.).

Double degree: In the Mechanical Engineering program, it is possible to obtain a double degree in cooperation with universities in Finland or Mexico.
