General Information

The Master programme in mechanical engineering at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences qualifies you to undertake demanding tasks related to the development, design and production of modern industrial goods. Now more than ever, mechanical engineering companies are finding themselves caught between the opposing poles of the three main determiners - the environment, society and technology. Only those who pay due regard to all three areas can be successful. This Master programme therefore focuses on “Resource Efficiency in Mechanical Engineering” and teaches you about procedures and technologies which can be used to enable the products of the future to fulfil their function with less material and lower energy consumption.

The broad-based, practice-oriented fundamental knowledge gained in the Bachelor programme is consolidated in the lectures offered in the Master programme. You will gain more in-depth theoretical insights into the mechanical engineering topics of the future from experienced lecturers and part-time instructors from industry. Research projects are used to teach students the methods of scientific working and how to apply the latest engineering methods. The curriculum also covers social skills and soft skills. On completion of your Master programme, you are qualified to do your doctorate at a university.

Application and Admission

Applications for this degree programme must be submitted online via the application portal for Master programmes at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. Students may commence this degree programme in the summer semester only. Applications for the summer semester must have been received by 15 January.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

As set out in the statutes governing the selection procedure of Esslingen University of Applied Sciences for the “Resource Efficiency in Mechanical Engineering” Master programme.

The formal requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable discipline.
Admission restrictions: 30 programme places

Application documents required for admission:

  • Proof of the successful completion of an appropriate university degree programme including details of the average grade obtained (certified copy of the certificate is required only when enrolling)
  • Diploma Supplement. Alternatively, a copy of the curriculum and examination plan on which it is based or
  • Module description (of the Bachelor’s degree obtained) with an Internet address, where possible (This section does not apply to graduates with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.)
  • Form - application for admission to the “Resource efficiency in mechanical engineering” Master programme.

  • Applicants who are submitting their application but have not yet received their degree certificate for their Bachelor’s degree: Transcript of Records, which may not have been issued more than four weeks before the application deadline.

Applicants may be granted provisional admission on the basis of these documents. Note: The provisional admission can be revoked when the overall grade stated on the degree certificate is worse than the provisional overall grade calculated. If this means places on the programme then become available, a process may be implemented whereby applicants who were not initially considered move up the list.


Applicants with a degree from a foreign university

Esslingen University of Applied Sciences requires a university degree gained at a foreign university to be recognised by the Center for International Students at Constance University of Applied Sciences (Studienkolleg Konstanz).
