Vehicle provision

A modern Mercedes-Benz "Sprinter City 35" was used. This combined the interior space advantages of a large city bus including a disabled-friendly low floor area with the flexibility and manoeuvrability of a small bus.

Esslingen University of Applied Sciences provided a vehicle with a modern hybrid powertrain which was developed as part of the ELENA project (electric upgrade kits for hybrid diesel-powered vehicles).  It is low noise and emission-free in electric mode with fully electric drive and has a range of up to 50 km.

The findings obtained while testing the vehicles described provided a basis for the development of a balanced vehicle concept for the needs-based local public transport system and had a decisive impact on it.
