A benchmark for innovative operational systems in local public transport is established as the basis for the design of the vehicle IT (Figure 4).
To determine critical interactions, a typical use of local public transport is represented over time in the form of an information flow diagram (excerpt in Figure 5). This analysis identified the following critical interactions between local public transport system and local public transport users:
- Going to the departure point
- Identification of the vehicle
- Registration of the passenger by the vehicle
Concepts to handle these critical interactions when using local public transport are drawn up. Figure 6 shows an exemplary concept for the information display on the front and the side of the vehicle to make it easier to identify the vehicle.
An exemplary conceptual display for a mobile terminal is created to match the information display on the vehicle (Figure 7).
