Timo Wurster, FA. ADLER

After graduating from high school, Timo Wurster studied chemical engineering/paint and lacquer at the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences at the Stadtmitte location. He completed his practical semester in 2017 at ADLER-Werk Lackfabrik in Schwaz (Tyrol, Austria). This is where his first contact with the wood coatings industry took place. The experience was so impressive and inspiring for Timo Wurster that his bachelor thesis led him to ADLER again. After graduating with his bachelor's degree in 2018, he had the opportunity to start his professional life there. Since then, he has been working in the Research & Development department, where he deals with radiation-curing coatings, among other things.

My time studying at the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences...

...remains a very valuable period of my life that I look back on with pleasure. Thanks to my high school diploma with chemistry as a special subject, the basic studies, in which the fundamentals of chemistry, physics and mathematics were deepened, were absolutely no problem for me. In the main course, I was then able to build up industry-specific knowledge in modules such as binders & pigments, materials testing for coatings, coatings technology and many others. The numerous laboratories that accompany many lectures were also particularly valuable. In addition to the technical aspects of the degree program, Esslingen also has a lot to offer in other ways, so that I can always find a suitable balance.

What did you take away from this period of study for your professional life?

The high level of practical orientation of the degree program in chemical engineering with a focus on paint and coatings provided me with the ideal basis for my daily work in the laboratory. I found my way around very quickly and also felt very well prepared. This will be one of the reasons why I still enjoy my work very much today.

What attracted you to your current job?

On the one hand, I had the great advantage that I already knew the qualities of ADLER very well through the practical semester and the bachelor thesis. So I was able to choose this job without any hesitation. On the other hand, the extensive range of leisure activities in Tyrol is also quite enticing. In the mountains, there are countless opportunities to find a work-life balance in winter as well as in summer, and I still appreciate that very much.

Thank you very much for the interview!
