In the winter semester 2018/19 the Faculty of Engineering Management joined forces with the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering to offer a new Master programme: “Smart Factory”.

Specialists in Industry 4.0

The Smart Factory Master programme trains students to become specialists in the field of Industry 4.0 and on graduation, they have a broad knowledge of engineering, information technology and corporate management for medium-sized companies.

Since intelligent production requires interdisciplinary collaboration in different areas of a business, students acquire skills in planning, developing and monitoring, as well as in supply, production, procurement and sales & marketing.

Programme features

The programme focuses on topics such as engineering, industry and information technology. It also covers digital business models, organisational development, services computing, “smart production” and digital logistics. The whole of “Industry 4.0” is thus comprehensively included in the Master programme to provide graduates with a solid foundation for their subsequent career.

Courses customised to meet the needs of industry

The Master programme was developed in intensive and detailed discussions with regional companies. Particular emphasis was placed on what companies expect of university graduates and also on the skills and competencies which need to be taught. The “Smart Factory” Master programme provides students with the optimum preparation to work in industry, because they learn to understand digitisation and to adjust production steps accordingly.
