Our Path to Leadership is Equitable Teamwork

The teamwork process is a constant that allows us to identify how to cooperate assertively with different members not only of an organization but also of society, the environment, and communities. However, this also allows us to learn from different cultures, behaviours, and customs to live with them.

That is why it is also necessary to understand that teamwork entails different roles in which we must be prepared, either as leaders or as members. The goal will always be to be able to adapt and handle assertive communication. But how can we put this into practice through experience? Well, the climbing garden will always be an opportunity to renew the values that must be present in a team such as trust, responsibility, respect, active listening, and collaboration.

Such activity requires a short preparation and transcends the barriers of professionalism. It is also a moment where we understand what teams are made up of; people who are facing situations outside of their comfort zone every day, even overcoming their fears. This is where it makes the most sense to understand that a good team a difference in successful organizations.

As a comparative example, we use the different obstacles in the climbing garden, and let's suppose those are the different challenges of our business activities. Each obstacle represents an opportunity to develop competence, and to learn from experience. In case someone has dealt in the past with this obstacle, she/he will be able to lead the group to solve the problem. At the end of the tour, the team itself will come out strengthened by its experience, but also individually, since the growth for each member is unique.

Finally, teamwork teaches us that each member and his or her abilities are enormously powerful, but nothing is stronger than a team that cooperates, understands, and adapts to a constantly changing environment. This is how Hochschule Esslingen trains MBA students. Ready to face the challenges that come in the future, but without losing the opportunity to add value to society.

Thanks a lot,
