Each year, the Esslingen Rennstall participates in the international Formula Student (FS) competition. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers describes the FS as follows:
"Formula Student is Europe's most established educational motorsport competition. Backed by the industry and high-profile engineers such as its Patron, Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering." - quoted from the IMech website
Six faculties of Esslingen University band together each year to create a newer, better, faster racing car with a well-founded business plan.
Graduate School students are there!
While our M.Eng. students are working on different aspects of the racing car itself, our MBA students team together with German management students to create a business plan for the entire project.
"Participating in the development of the project for Rennstall was a great opportunity to dive deep into the motorsports world, the level of complexity of the competition and the expectations are really high. For this competition the team needs to prepare a presentation which convinces a jury to invest in your brand, during 10 min presentation you need to show the uniqueness of your brand, what are you offering to your potential customers, who are they, how will you produce your marketing, how is the production going to be, a sales forecast for the upcomming years and most important the financial statements; which I helped to develop, in this part everything has to be realistic and show clear benefits to the investors.
I highly recommend the participation and support with this team since the learnings are difficult to obtain within the academic environment."
