In the winter semester 2018/19 the Faculty of Engineering Management in conjunction with the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering is offering a new Master’s programme: “Smart Factory”.

It is aimed primarily at graduates with a degree in engineering or a subject which combines technical and business disciplines.

SPECIALISTS IN INDUSTRY 4.0

The Smart Factory Master’s programme trains students to become specialists in the field of Industry 4.0 and on graduation, they have a broad knowledge of engineering, information technology and business management for medium-sized enterprises.

Since intelligent production requires interdisciplinary collaboration in different areas of business, students acquire skills in planning, developing, monitoring as well as in supply, production, procurement and sales & marketing.

PROGRAMME PRIORITIES

The programme focuses on topics such as technology, industry and information technology. It also includes digital business models, organisational development, services computing and “smart production” as well as digital logistics. The whole of “Industry 4.0” is thus comprehensively included in the Master’s degree programme to provide graduates with a solid foundation for their subsequent career.

COURSES CUSTOMISED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF INDUSTRY

The Master’s programme was developed in intensive and detailed discussions with regional companies. Particular emphasis was placed on what companies expect of university graduates and also on the skills and competencies which need to be taught. The “Smart Factory” Master’s programme provides students with the optimum preparation to work in industry, because they learn to understand digitisation and to adjust production steps accordingly.

How to apply

Applications for this degree programme must be submitted online via the Master’s degree programme portal of Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.

The deadlines for submitting applications are

  • 15 January for the summer semester
  • 15 July for the winter semester.

Esslingen University of Applied Sciences requires a university degree gained at a foreign university to be recognised by the Center for International Students at Constance University of Applied Sciences (Studienkolleg Konstanz).

The Smart Factory Master of Engineering programme equips students with a broad knowledge of engineering, information technology and business management so they can take on the challenges of digitisation.

As future managers, graduates are able to recognise digitisation potentials in companies and implement digitisation in intelligent product design, development, connectivity, information technology, modern production through to innovative business models and company structures.
