1970 Application to convert the Higher Technical College for the Painting and Decorating Trade, Stuttgart into a school of engineering specialising in paint.
1972 Establishment of the Paint Department (chemistry) at the Technical College for Printing, Stuttgart.
1973 Start of degree programme in the winter semester 1973/74.
1976 Move into laboratories in the new building of the Technical College for Printing, Stuttgart.
1979 Renamed as the Department of Colour-Paint-Plastics and assigned the degree programme in paint (chemistry).
1980 Introduction of admission restrictions ((NC, 30 university places).
1996 Move of the department with its eleven professors and five staff to the Technical University of Applied Sciences Esslingen (FHTE). Renaming of the degree programme as Chemical Engineering/Colour-Paint-Environment (CI/FLU).
1997 Establishment of the Chemical Engineering Department
2003 Renamed as the Faculty of Natural Sciences (AN). Establishment of the Biotechnology/Life Sciences degree programme (BT). Establishment of the specialisations in “Technology and Design” and “Product Management” in the CI/FLU programme.
2005 Introduction of the Bachelor programmes for CI/FLU and BT.
2007 Inauguration of the new biotechnology laboratories
2009 Introduction of the Applied Surface and Material Sciences Master degree programme (OMM)
Renaming of the CI/FLU degree programme as Chemical Engineering/Colour and Coatings (CIB)
2015 Introduction of the part-time Master of Engineering in Bio-Process Engineering (BTM)
2019 Further development of the Bio-Process Engineering Master degree programme into a distance learning M.Sc. programme in Biotechnology (BLM) in cooperation with the Springer-Verlag GmbH.
