Esslingen University of Applied Sciences added a further degree programme to its portfolio in the winter semester 2019/20 - the cutting-edge field of autonomous driving. This part-time degree programme is offered by the Faculty of Automotive Engineering. It owes its existence to the University Federation SouthWest Germany (Hochschulföderation Südwest (HfSW)) and the Graduate Campus at Aalen University of Applied Sciences.
Autonomous driving is becoming a reality and is the main issue for numerous OEMs and suppliers. The automotive industry needs graduates with specialist and methodological knowledge in a variety of disciplines to develop automated vehicles. Our Master’s programme is the best possible preparation for these challenges. It comprises thirteen modules which provide you with a good grounding in a range of subjects:
- technical disciplines such as sensor technology and algorithmics incl. machine learning and IT security
- issues of an economic nature, future vehicle and mobility concepts, and also ethical/legal framework conditions.
The degree programme is aimed at engineers with a first degree in a technical subject and graduates from the fields of IT, business information systems, physics or mathematics.
The programme is offered once a year starting in September. It takes four semesters (2 years) to complete and comprises 90 ECTS credits.
In the first three semesters, lectures are held on Fridays from 15:30 – 20:30 and Saturdays from 9:30 – 16:45. The Master thesis is written in the fourth semester. Lectures are held at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. The laboratory courses take place on the various university campuses. The team of lecturers is made up of professors from the University Federation SouthWest Germany and assistant lecturers from industry.
