Master of Arts (M.A.) Nursing Sciences

The Master's degree program is intended for graduates with a professional qualification in social work (Bachelor's degree or Diploma). The Master of Arts degree entitles the holder to enter a doctoral program or to work at management level in the public service sector.

Aims of the Master's degree program

The Master's degree program is organised in such a way to make analysis, critical examination and evaluation of social sciences research possible, both within a specific discipline, as well as in an inter or transdisciplinary context. To this end, the program concentrates especially on the following:

a) teaching and enhancing knowledge of the current status of social sciences research as it applies to nursing and nursing teacher education; 

b) analysis and critical examination of current social sciences research methods and strategies as well as their use;

c) acquisition and development of research, evaluation and planning instruments which can improve effectiveness in the area of professional nursing and nursing teacher education;

d) application of acquired knowledge, methods and instruments in order to analyse specifics of the discipline and/or its areas of professional expertise;

e) planning, implementation and documentation of a piece of research or development work, carried out independently.
