Spray painting

How does the paint get on the work piece? Under which conditions do we get the desired optical and technological characteristics of the paint coating? How is it possible to design our techniques and processes such that the negative impacts on the environment are minimised and simultaneously the operating costs reduced?

Powder spraying

These questions are addressed in the Surface Technology Lab by training students in the use of different application systems. We get to know the most important methods of paint application and get a first impression of how we can significantly improve paint coating quality by optimising application parameters.

Measuring

One important aspect is the practical handling of the different measuring methods for the optical (colour shade, brightness, roughness, etc.) and technological (hardness, scratch resistance, elasticity, etc.) characteristics of the paint coating.

Spraying robot

We look at application techniques like dip and spray painting or electrostatic powder painting, and also pre-treatment methods such as blasting. Manual and automated systems with robot assistance are used.
