The students receive simple laboratory instructions. They practice the right way to assemble glass apparatus, learn to recognise hazardous substances and how to deal with them correctly.

The experiments have been specially selected to allow students to practise the following methods: dosing liquids and solids, heating and cooling, stirring and shaking, drying and cleaning liquids and solids.

The students identify the produced substances by determining their most important physical properties using simple methods like finding the melting point, refractometry, thin-layer-chromatography and polarimetry.
