The manuscript "Coatings Technology, Special Coatings and Colour Design" ("Lacktechnologie, spezielle Beschichtungen und Farbdesign") is conceived as an educational aid for teaching science subjects in schools, especially grammar schools/high schools. It shows the extent to which chemical products and physical procedures are used in modern manufacturing to produce products for customers. Readers will be amazed to see how important surface coatings are. Topics dealt with range from the basics of paint and coating technology, the construction of coatings and application technologies to classic and modern coating systems and special coatings and colour design. 

Academic staff from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences, who teach on the Bachelor's degree program Chemical Engineering/Colour and Coatings, compiled the manuscript. The individual authors are named in the chapter titles. Further information about the authors can be found on the website of Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.
