"Panta rhei" - “ Everything flies". With these words the Greek philosopher Heraklit (550-480 B.C.) has described the way of the things. A statement which can be transferred just like that also to the development of modern companies. Besides, the company change is an exceptionally multi-layered and complicated process which encloses, for example, questions of the product strategy and market strategy as well as the creation of the leadership organisation or the motivation of the employees. Such change processes put the management regularly before difficult assignments whose coping decides on the future perspectives of the concerning company. While successful changes form the basis for another growth, failed change processes can lead in the most unfavorable case to the liquidation of the company. The following clause from the "Economist" makes these problems clear: “ Anyone who tells you it is easily to change the way people do things is either a liar, a management consultant, or both ”.


The huge number of mergers, reorganisations, Reorientierungen, to change programs points etc. which meaning comes up to a purposeful management of the change. Besides, in the USA developed concepts like Lean management, Business-Reengineering, business transformation and many others were taken up by the practise enthusiastically - partially, however, with a rather moderate success. In this respect the basic question positions itself what makes the company change at last successful. Are there the critical success factors whose disregard or nonobservance leads to a failure of change measures? Are top down attempts of the Change management necessary even today erfolgversprechend? Ist a participation. The employees and female employees with change measures compelling? How can the success of change measures be measured? The institute of Change management and innovation follows these and other questions within the scope of his research activity. Besides, the empiric studies which serve the (Wide) development of action concepts for the practise are carried out building up on the theoretical attempts of the change management.
