Library collection

The Library of the University of Applied Science Esslingen provides resources for learning, research and study at the Hochschule Esslingen. The Library of the University is divided between the university sites in Esslingen and Göppingen.

In the Reading Room you can find journals, reference works and standard works. These are not available to borrow which ensures that the most important core texts can always be accessed. A short-term loan is possible for photocopying.

As well as a core collection of literature on natural sciences, engineering and computer technology, the library is particularly well supplied with books on the following subject areas: Microelectronics, Production, Automation Systems, Precision Engineering, Microsystems, Business Information Management.

The library archive is catalogued and accessible online via the WebPAC system. PCs are provided for readers to search for items.

The usual loan period is 4 weeks. Items can be renewed up to five times (external users up to two times, maxium of ten media), provided they haven’t been requested by another reader. If students are on a placement they may usually borrow books for a whole semester (On presentation of the work contract). This regulation also applies for students who write the thesis. Die Abholung von Büchern durch dritte Personen ist nur möglich, wenn der Bibliotheksausweis (Studierendenausweis) sowie eine schriftliche Vollmacht des Auftraggebers vorgelegt wird. Die Vollmacht und Kopie bzw. Scan des Bibliotheksausweises (Studierendenausweises) können auch vorab per Fax oder per E-Mail an die Hochschulbibliothek zugeschickt werden.

Members of the Hochschule Esslingen are automatically entitled to use the Library of the University. Other parties can also gain permission to use the facility for scientific or professional purposes. Such persons will require official photo ID and proof of address in order to register. Library membership can be withdrawn at any time.

Library regulations

Die Nutzung der Schließfächer in der Bibliothek Esslingen ist nur für die Dauer der Bibliotheksbenutzung bestimmt. Die Schließfachschlüssel sind in der Ausleihe erhältlich und müssen spätestens am Folgetag bis 9.00 Uhr wieder abbgegeben werden. Bei verspäteter Rückgabe sind erhöhte Mahngebühren fällig.
