General Information for international Exchange Students
Welcome to the Accommdation Office website. These pages offer a comprehensive guide to the range of accommodation available to international exchange students of Hochschule Esslingen.
As it can be difficult to find short-term private accommodation (for 1 or 2 semester) in Esslingen or Göppingen, we try to make the process of settling down into university accommodation as easy as possible.
Accommodation Service
In co-operation with the Students Services Stuttgart (Studentenwerk Stuttgart) the International Office offers a limited number of places in different dormitories. All rooms are single rooms and are rented out semesterwise. The monthly rent for the furnished, heated and self-catered rooms varies between € 239,- and € 285,-. Furthermore a deposit of € 300,- will be due. When allocating accommodation the International Office gives priority to first year students from partner universities and to applicants for the Graduate School.

Accommodation Forms must be returned to the International Office until
- 31 May for the following winter term
- 30 November for the following summer term

Accommodation cannot be guaranteed for applications submitted after the deadline and incomplete and / or unsigned forms will not be considered. We recommend to send the accomodation application as soon as possible because the numer of rooms in the residences is limited and the assignment is done on a "first come first served" basis.
We will acknowledge the receipt of the application form by email.
Offer of a room
After having received your complete application for accommodation and for the enrollment at Hochschule Esslingen, we will reserve a room in one of our dormitories for you. For detailed information concerning the location of the residences please use the link of the Studentenwerk Stuttgart. We cannot guarantee to provide everyone with the precise type of accommodation that you might prefer but we do our best to consider your wishes. So if you prefer a certain dormitory please put it down on the Reservation Form.
As soon as we have done the assignment of rooms you will be informed in which dormitory you are accommodated. When you are offered a room, you will be required to make a payment of € 600,- (€ 300,- for a deposit and € 300,- for prepayment of the rent).
This amount is due until
- 15 February for the summer term
- 15 August for the winter term
In case your monthly rent will be less or more expensive than € 300,- the difference will be compensated in the next amount. Further details concerning the mode of payment will be given in the accommodation offer.
Rental agreement
The rooms in our dormitories are only rented out semesterwise (01.09.-28.02. / 01.03. - 31.08.). The rental agreement runs for one semester (exchange students) or 2 semester (Master students). It is possible to extend the contract for another semester. On your arrival day you will sign a contract, which is a legally binding document stating the terms and conditions of renting a room from the Students Services, and the rules and regulations you must adhere to when you are in residence.
