University network - base of the IT-structure

The network of the University should  make a fast exchange of data possible at and between all three locations of the university. This network is the base of all other IT-systems and have to offer a high availability. These claims are realized via multiple connections between the network components (LACP, Trunk, Bonding).

Only Cisco Hardware is used at the University Routing-range, as in the Distribution- and Access-Layer more and more equipment from ProCurve is taken to the operation.

The University of Esslingen is connected to the BelWü network with a speed of 2 GBit/s. Most of the data traffic to BelWü or internet is produced by the mirror-server ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de.

The IPv4-domain 134.108.0.0/16 is available for the University of Esslingen. Thus the University holds 65536 different adresses, whereby the number drops about a hundred adresses because of division in our network.
