Foreign Applicants

1. Applicants with German Qualifications

 All foreign applicants with German qualifications have equal status with German applicants and can apply for admission directly to Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.

2. Applicants with Qualifications from a Foreign Country

 All foreign applicants with qualifications from a foreign country or with qualifications from German schools in a foreign country and who wish to apply for a student place at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences must submit their documents to the University of Applied Sciences in Constance (Ausländerstudienkolleg Konstanz, ASK). Constance University will confirm whether your qualifications are comparable to German university entrance qualifications and will give you a German grade. Further, the University can test your knowledge of the German language. 

The Constance University of Applied Sciences does not allocate student places, but issues the documents necessary to apply for a university place. These documents must be submitted to arrive within the application deadline (15.1/15.7.) to allow your application to be processed.

 Please note that the University of Applied Sciences in Constance is responsible for universities in Baden-Wuerttemberg. If you have had your documents certified in another German federal state, please contact the Admissions Office.

3. Admission

 8% of student places are allocated to foreign applicants with qualifications from a foreign country. All applicants from EU countries and applicants with German qualifications have the same status as German applicants in the admissions procedure. 

 4. Knowledge of German/ Tests of Language Proficiency

 Our degree programs are mostly taught in German. For this reason, foreign applicants with foreign qualifications must bring evidence of having passed a proficiency examination in the German language at the latest when they register at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. We accept the following certificates:

  • DSH-Test, levels 2 or 3

  • TestDaf-Test: On average, all four parts of the examination must have attained at least level 4 or 5. All parts of the examination must have attained level 3.<//span>
