Especially the faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management of the Hochschule Esslingen - University of Applied Sciences - were named frequently by the companys' directors. Electrical Engineering including Information Technology is on the sixth place.

ZEIT Studienführer 2007/08, May 2007	Top field	Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering Electrical Engineering (Mechatronics) and Information Technology Chemical Engineering	Only the University of Applied Sciences, Esslingen, achieved all five green points in both its Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering, i.e. the best marks in all criteria (general situation for students, mentoring, relevance to practice, laboratory equipment, reputation of the academic staff). In Electrical Engineering (degree programmes in automation systems, electrical engineering, precision engineering and microsystems, mechatronics plus) and in Information Technology (communications engineering, and software engineering and media informatics), the faculties in Esslingen and Göppingen received top marks from the students in the categories of laboratory equipment, relevance to practice, and mentoring. In the category of the general situation for students, the degree programme chemical engineering achieved a place in the top group.

Magazine Karriere, April 2007	Place 3 Place 5	Engineering Management	50,000 students and alumni as well as the human resource managers of 1,000 big companies were surveyed. Their votes were given equal weight in the ranking. The criteria which were evaluated included quality of training and equipment, links to practice, preparation for work and partnerships with companies.

Wirtschaftswoche March 2007	Place 2 among all German universities of applied sciences Place 5 among all German universities of applied sciences	Electrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering	Human resources managers from 1,000 companies were asked which universities of applied science they evaluated particularly highly. They were allowed to choose five universities. The emphasis was on the disciplines of business management, economics, law, engineering management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, and management and information systems. The more votes a university received, the higher its ranking in the relevant subject.
			“The human resources managers evaluated the universities of applied science very positively. Eight out of ten of the respondents praised the graduates’ high level of practical experience. “There are very good universities of applied science from which we would consider employing candidates just as much as from universities”, says SAP manager, Laick.” “Companies have identified target universities of applied science with which they are particularly keen to work”, says Jens Ohle, director of the human resources company, Access. Magazine Karriere, May 2006	Place 1, Place 2 and Place 3	Computer Engineering, Engineering, Management	51,461 students and alumni as well as the human resource managers of 1,000 big companies were surveyed. Their votes were given equal weight in the ranking. Study duration, mentoring and international competence were also evaluated.
			"With Reutlingen, Deggendorf and Esslingen, three state universities of applied sciences are ranked as the best universities. ... It is clear: of the 30 universities and 25 universities of applied sciences which are ranked in the magazine "karriere", three stand out against the rest of the universities." ZEIT Studienführer 2006/07, May 2006	Top field	Information Technology	Together with the FHTE there were only two universities of applied sciences reaching the top level in the ranking. The Faculty of Information Technology with three bachelor programmes in technical informatics, software engineering and media informatics and communications engineering received always very positive judgements from the students. In all 13 criteria (f.e. counselling by the professors, contact to professors, contact to students, study programme etc.) the FHTE received mark A (1,5)
WirtschaftsWoche March 2006	Place 3 Place 4 among all German universities of applied sciences	Mechanical Engineering Engineering with Business Studies and Electrical Engineering	In order to create the ranking list, more than 1000 human resource managers were surveyed by the executive search firm Access in Cologne. The managers reported which universities produced graduates with the best qualifications.
			“We’re not looking for applicants from the ivory tower. We need people with both feet firmly on the ground” said Silvia Rieble, personnel manager at Siemens Management Consulting, the in-house consultants of the high-tech company. ZEIT Studienführer 2005/06	Top field	Business Studies with Engineering, Business Information Management, Engineering with Business Studies	The ranking list was determined by scores in 5 criteria: practical application, supervision, library facilities, students’ opinion, reputation of the faculty. In all three study programs, four of the five criteria were given very good evaluations by students, alumni and personnel managers.
			“Always in one of the top places: the University of Applied Sciences, Esslingen. A particularly close relationship with industry is part of the success strategy which results in the university always being at the top of the ranking list. In the CHE ranking list, the study programs in Business Engineering and Management Information Systems in Esslingen are in the top group; in Industrial Management, the university has narrowed the gap to the top and for Social Workers, the university also got good evaluations.” Die Zeit Nr. 21, 19 May 2005
Karriere April 2005	Place 1 among all German universities of applied sciences	Engineering with the faculties of mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics and electrical engineering	21, 665 students and alumni as well as personnel managers from 600 large companies were surveyed. Each group was separately evaluated and then an overall rank was determined. The FHTE is number one among the universities of applied sciences in Germany.
			“Still, size and recognition are not the only criteria. The FHTE, from Schwabia, is not overawed by the University of Stuttgart which is only 18 kilometers away. According to the personnel managers, the FHTE is just as able to take advantage of the proximity of DaimlerChrysler or Bosch as its large neighbour.
